Business service bonds.
Issued online.

A business service bond — also called an employee dishonesty bond — reimburses your client if one of your employees steals from them while working in their home or office. Clients and contracts ask for it, not a licensing law, so cleaning, janitorial, home care, pet-sitting, moving and on-site repair firms are the usual buyers. Coverage runs from $2,500 to $250,000, priced by the amount and how many employees you have. Pick the tier below that matches what your client asked for; each one shows its price before you apply.

How it works

Business service bonds, in plain terms

Protection for your client against employee theft, in the amount the client asks for.

Who needs one

Any business whose people work inside a client’s home, office or building — cleaning and janitorial crews, home care aides, pet sitters, movers, carpet and window cleaners, on-site IT and repair. Commercial clients, property managers and public agencies often require one before they hand over keys or award a contract.

What it protects

Your client. If an employee steals money or property while working on the client’s premises, the bond reimburses the client and the surety then recovers the loss from your business. Injury to people and accidental damage are general liability insurance, not this bond; each tier’s page says exactly what its form covers.

How to pick a tier

Choose the coverage amount your client or contract names, and the employee band that covers everyone who works on client sites: 6 or fewer, 7 to 15, or 16 and up. The bond is written for your business as a whole, so one bond covers every client.

Need something different?

Asked for something the tiers above don’t cover — a client named on the bond, the client’s own bond form, or more than $250,000? Tell us what the contract says and our bonds team will place it for you, usually within one business day.
