About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

This is the deepest coverage limit we offer at the 16-or-more-employee tier: a $25,000 Business Services Bond. Like every tier of this product, it covers a loss when an employee of yours steals from a client — not from you — while performing work on the client's premises. Larger clients and higher-value contracts often specify a limit like this one over the smaller $5,000 tiers.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and your client as the protected party for any given job. If an employee is proven to have stolen from a client while performing services you were hired for, the client can make a claim against the bond up to its $25,000 limit.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, it can seek recovery from the employee responsible, not from your business generally. Coverage does not extend to volunteers or 1099 contractors — only your own employees are covered. There is no government statute behind this bond; it exists because clients and their contracts ask for it.

Client contract — not a government statuteA Business Services Bond is typically a private, contractual requirement set by the client, property manager, or commercial contract you're servicing — not a federal, state, or municipal statute. Requesting parties vary by industry: property management companies commonly require one of a janitorial vendor, and service contracts (including some government service contracts) can specify one as a condition of the engagement. Confirm the limit your specific client or contract requires before applying.

You need this bond if you're

A service business a large client is asking to carry deeper coverage — $25,000 rather than the entry limits
Bidding on a higher-value commercial or facilities contract with a $25,000 minimum specified
A 16-or-more-employee crew handling higher-value client property or premises
Replacing an expiring bond at the same $25,000 limit your contract already requires

FAQ

Common questions.

How much is the $25,000 Business Services Bond? The premium is $636 flat — set by our carrier's rate book for this coverage limit and employee-count tier (16 or more employees). Because the limit and tier are fixed, there is no quote process.
Do I pay the $25,000?No. You pay $636. The $25,000 is the surety's maximum payout if a valid claim is proven — not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
How fast will I have the bond? This bond is among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase — many businesses have it in the same sitting. At most, 1–2 business days.
Is there a credit check? The application collects no credit information, so most applicants approve instantly. If a check ever runs on this bond, it's a soft pull that won't affect your score.
Why is this so much more than the $5,000 tier? The coverage limit is five times higher — $25,000 versus $5,000 — at the same 16-or-more-employee tier, so the surety's maximum exposure is much larger. Pick the limit your client's contract actually specifies rather than defaulting to the highest one.
