Insurance to spec

The bid sets the coverage.

When an RFP lists the insurance it requires, our brokerage matches your coverage to that list before you bid, not after you win.

Your RFP lists its own limits, and we match to that list before you bid.

Each occurrence
the most the policy pays for any one incident.
Aggregate
the most it pays in total over the policy period.
Combined single limit
one limit per accident for injury and property damage together.
Statutory
the benefits your state’s law sets for workers’ comp; employer’s liability is the part with limits.
Additional insured
the owner is added to your policy for claims that arise from your work.
Waiver of subrogation
your insurer gives up its right to recover what it paid from the owner.

Coverage lines

Every line, on the job.

What each policy usually covers, pinned to the part of the job it covers. Your policy’s own terms decide.

  1. General liability

Injury and property damage your work causes others, on the job and after it’s handed over. It doesn’t pay to redo your own faulty work.

  2. Commercial auto

Trucks, vans and the whole fleet. Rentals and employees’ own cars on company errands can be added as hired and non-owned auto liability.

  3. Tools & equipment

The tools, machinery and gear you own when they are stolen or damaged: on the truck, at the shop or on the site.

  4. Workers’ comp

Medical bills and part of the lost wages for an injured member of the crew, plus employer’s liability if you’re sued over the injury.

  5. Builder’s risk

The work in progress and the materials on site while the job is built. The contract says whether the owner or the contractor carries it.

  6. Professional liability

Claims that your design, advice or management cost a client money.

  7. Cyber

Data breach and ransomware: getting the business running again and notifying the people whose data was exposed. Fund-transfer fraud and phishing are often a smaller limit or an add-on.

  8. Umbrella

Higher limits over your liability lines when a job demands them.
