About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the exempt company registration bond actually covers

Nevada licenses mortgage companies under NRS chapter 645B, but certain persons and entities — described in NRS 645B.015 — qualify for exemption from that licensing, and NRS 645B.016 lets those entities apply to the Commissioner of Mortgage Lending for a certificate of exemption. An exempt company that sponsors one or more licensed mortgage loan originators must register through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) and post a surety bond as part of that registration; an exempt company can avoid the bond only if it instead requires each sponsored originator to carry an individual surety bond.

The bond gives the Division of Mortgage Lending and the public a source of recovery if the company or the loan originators it sponsors fail to comply with Nevada's mortgage lending requirements. It is a company-level financial backstop, filed and maintained electronically through NMLS alongside the certificate-of-exemption application and its annual renewal.

Enter the bond amount your specific NMLS filing calls for, and we price the bond from a $100 minimum; the application itself collects no credit information, and most applications approve instantly.
