About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

A public adjuster bond is a policyholder-protection guarantee. You negotiate insurance claims on behalf of people who've just had the worst week of their year — Missouri wants a financial backstop that you'll handle their claims and their money honestly.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of Missouri (the obligee), with your clients as the protected parties. If an adjuster mishandles client funds, commits fraud, or violates the public adjuster law, the harmed client can recover against the bond.

The bond must stay active for the life of your license. Let it lapse and you can be referred for action against the license — so we track it and notify you 60 and 30 days out, keeping your $10,000 filing continuous.

RSMo 325.020Missouri Revised Statutes section 325.020 conditions a public adjuster license on a surety bond filed with the Department of Commerce and Insurance: $10,000 for a licensed public adjuster (and a separate, smaller bond — generally $1,000 — for an individual adjuster employed by a business that already carries the $10,000 bond). Confirm which amount your license requires; this page is the $10,000 licensed-adjuster bond.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

How much is the Missouri public adjuster bond?
The premium is $100 flat — set by our carrier's rate book for this exact bond, the same for every adjuster. The $10,000 bond amount is set by statute, so there is no quote process; the price you see is the checkout price.
Do I pay the $10,000?
No. You pay $100. The $10,000 is the surety's maximum liability if a valid claim is made against the bond — not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
How fast will I have the bond?
License bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase — many adjusters finish the application and have the bond in the same sitting. At most, 1–2 business days.
Is there a credit check?
The application has no credit section at all — most approve instantly. If a check ever runs on a bond like this, it's a soft pull that never affects your score.
When does it renew?
The bond must stay active for as long as you hold the license. You can buy a 1, 2, or 3-year term; we send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out, with autopay available, so your license never lapses over a missed email.
