Virginia requires every professional solicitor to file a fixed $20,000 bond when registering to raise funds for charity — ours is $300 flat, the price our carrier rate book sets for this bond. The bond issues the moment you pay — no credit review of any kind, not even a soft pull.

License bonds are the simplest thing in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials, no credit section, no follow-up scavenger hunt.
License bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with your professional solicitor registration. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
A professional solicitor is a paid fundraiser who solicits charitable contributions in Virginia. Under Code of Virginia § 57-61, each professional solicitor must register and file a $20,000 bond — a consumer-protection guarantee standing behind the honesty of how those contributions are solicited and handled.
The bond runs to the Commonwealth of Virginia for reimbursement of any penalties or losses resulting from malfeasance, nonfeasance, or misfeasance in the conduct of solicitation activities. A partnership or corporation may file a consolidated bond covering its members, officers, agents, and employees.
Registration is valid for one year and renews annually, so the bond must stay in force the whole time you're registered. We track it and notify you 60 and 30 days out so your filing stays continuous.
These are the actual issuing fields — the application collects no credit information.
