Memphis and Shelby County require a $5,000 bond to register as a master gas installer. Ours is $275 flat — the $275 minimum premium, since 3% of $5,000 is below it — and bonds like this are among the fastest things we issue.

Gas installer registration bonds are simple. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials and no credit check section on this bond.
Small license bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to submit with your master gas installer registration. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
3% of $5,000 is $150, below our $275 minimum — so the premium is $275, one-time per term. Multi-year if you want it.
A master gas installer bond is a code-compliance and public-safety guarantee to Memphis and Shelby County. Gas piping work carries real risk, so the county wants a financial backstop that you'll install and connect fuel-gas systems to the adopted code and follow the licensing rules.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and Memphis / Shelby County (the obligee), with property owners and the public protected. If you violate the fuel-gas code and someone is harmed, they can recover against the bond.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Installers who pull permits and work to code treat the bond as a registration formality, not a risk.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
