Marion County requires a $2,000 bond running to the Board of County Commissioners for an excavating license and permit — the County Engineer's condition for excavation in the county right-of-way. Ours is $275 flat (3% of $2,000 lands under our $275 minimum), with no credit check on this bond.

Excavating-permit bonds are the simplest thing in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials, no credit check section, no follow-up scavenger hunt.
Small fixed-amount permit bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond arrives by email, ready to file with your excavating license & permit application at the Marion County Engineer's Office. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
$2,000 bond × 3% = $60, which is below our $275 minimum — so the premium is $275, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
The Marion County Engineer issues excavating licenses and special permits for work in the county right-of-way, and conditions them on a bond running to the Board of County Commissioners in a minimum amount of $2,000. The County Engineer's Office must be notified at least 24 hours before work begins.
The bond is a restoration-and-compliance guarantee. It stands behind your obligation to do the excavation to county standards and to restore the right-of-way — the roadway, the surface, the drainage — to the condition Marion County requires. If you don't, the county can recover its restoration costs against the bond.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Marion County Board of Commissioners (the obligee). It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays the county, you repay the surety. Permits are valid for 60 days from issuance.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
