About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

A telemarketer bond is a consumer-protection guarantee. New York wants a financial backstop standing behind your telemarketing business so that customers harmed by your calls have somewhere to recover.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of New York (the obligee), with your customers as the protected parties. The bond is payable for the benefit of any customer a court adjudges to have been injured by the telemarketer's actions.

Registration runs on a two-year cycle with the Department of State. You can buy a 1, 2, or 3-year bond term to match it — we track the date and notify you 60 and 30 days out, so your registration never lapses over paperwork.

NY registration requirementNew York telemarketer registration is governed by General Business Law Article 26-A (§ 399-pp). Telemarketing businesses register with the NY Department of State and file a $25,000 bond — payable for the benefit of customers adjudged by a court to be injured by the telemarketer.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

Why is the price $750? +
Straight math: the state fixes the bond at $25,000, and our flat rate is 3% — so $25,000 × 3% = $750. That clears the $275 industry minimum, so you pay the flat 3% with nothing added on. Same price for every telemarketer.
Do I pay the $25,000? +
No. You pay $750. The $25,000 is the surety's maximum liability if a court finds a valid claim against the bond — not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
How fast will I have the bond? +
This bond is instant-issue — most telemarketers finish the application and have the executed bond in the same sitting. At most, 1–2 business days.
Is there a credit check? +
No — this bond is instant-issue and the application has no credit section at all. Fixed-amount registration bonds like this don't need one.
When does it renew? +
New York telemarketer registration runs on a two-year cycle with the Department of State. You can buy a 1, 2, or 3-year bond term to fit it; we send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out, with autopay available so your registration never lapses over a missed email.
I'm based outside New York. Do I still need this bond? +
If you telemarket to New York consumers, yes — the registration and $25,000 bond apply regardless of where your business operates. Some businesses already licensed with a state or federal agency may qualify for an exemption; if that's you, confirm with the Department of State before buying.
