The City of Springfield requires every licensed new and/or used motor vehicle dealer to file a $5,000 bond with the City. Ours is $275 flat — the $275 minimum, since 3% of $5,000 is below it — and the application is five minutes with no credit check.

City license bonds are about the simplest thing in surety. Here's the whole process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials and no credit check section on this bond.
Small fixed-amount license bonds like this are among the bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with your Springfield dealer license application. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
3% of $5,000 is $150, below our $275 minimum — so the price is $275, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
The City of Springfield licenses new and used motor vehicle dealers operating in the city, and conditions the license on a $5,000 bond. It's a consumer-and-public-protection guarantee that you'll conduct your dealership in compliance with City ordinances and deal honestly with buyers.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the City of Springfield together with harmed buyers (the protected parties). If a dealer violates City code or harms a customer, the harmed party can recover against the bond up to $5,000.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The bond must stay active for the life of your dealer license, so we track it and send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.
