About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

Mississippi licenses pest control companies through the Department of Agriculture and Commerce's Bureau of Plant Industry, and conditions a company license on a surety bond. The bond is a performance-and-compliance guarantee: it stands behind the professional service contracts you sign and your compliance with the state pest-control law and the Bureau's rules.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of Mississippi together with your customers as the protected parties. If a company fails to perform a service contract or violates the pest-control regulations and someone is harmed, the harmed party can recover against the bond.

The minimum bond for insect, rodent, and plant-disease control work is $5,000; some service categories or higher-risk work can call for a larger amount. If your license category requires more, send us the figure and we'll confirm the price for that bond.

Miss. Code § 69-19-9Mississippi Code § 69-19-9 (the Mississippi Pesticide Application Law / pest-control licensing) and the Bureau of Plant Industry's regulations condition a pest control company license on a surety bond, conditioned upon faithful compliance with the Act and the rules and upon the faithful performance of all professional service contracts. The minimum is generally $5,000 for insect, rodent, and plant-disease control work; confirm the amount for your service categories on your application.

FAQ

Common questions.

How much is the Mississippi pest control bond? The premium is $100 — set by our carrier’s rate book for this specific $5,000 bond. That is what you pay; the $5,000 is the coverage amount, not the price.
Do I pay the $5,000?No. You pay $100. The $5,000 is the surety's maximum liability if a valid claim is made against the bond — not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
Who requires this bond? The MDAC Bureau of Plant Industry requires it as a condition of a pest control company license, under Miss. Code § 69-19-9 and the Bureau's regulations. No active bond, no license.
Is there a credit check? The application collects no credit information — there's no credit section to fill out. Most applications like this approve instantly; if a check ever runs, it's a soft pull that never affects your score.
What if my category needs a larger bond? Some service categories or higher-risk work can require more than $5,000. If yours does, send us the amount the Bureau named and we'll confirm the price for that bond.
