The City of Fort Myers permits work in its public right of way. Before it issues a right-of-way or utility connection permit, it requires a bond deposit of 100% of the job valuation, $5,000 minimum, in cash, check or surety, and this right of way permit bond is the surety option. Under the City bond form it is a public-protection guarantee: you indemnify the City against losses from any failure to comply with the laws, ordinances, rules and regulations governing its rights-of-way.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier standing behind you, and the City of Fort Myers (the obligee, the party the bond protects). If you fail to follow the laws and rules governing City rights-of-way and the City suffers a loss, it can recover against the bond.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Pricing is 1% of the amount the city set, $100 minimum — not a credit tier; we track renewals so your permit coverage never lapses.
These are the actual underwriting fields. Submit once and your bond is issued when you pay.
