What the promoter bond actually guarantees
The Alabama Athletic Commission licenses the people who promote professional boxing, bare-knuckle boxing, tough-man contests, professional wrestling, and amateur or professional MMA in the state. Under Code of Alabama §41-9-1029, a promoter license application must be accompanied by a performance bond in an amount and on conditions the Commission sets.
The bond is a payment-and-performance guarantee: it backs the promoter's obligations around the event — paying fighters, officials, and taxes, and complying with the laws and rules governing the match. It is a three-party arrangement — you (the promoter/principal), the surety carrier, and the Commission (the obligee).
