Provide drilling, sampling an in-situ testing as part of a geotechnical investigation at a site known to be underlain by diatomaceous soils. Investigation is being performed in support of settlement and foundation analyses. This is a join research project with ODOT/OSU/PSU.

The contractor will perform mud rotary drilling to advance up to two borings to a total estimated depth of 400 feet at the Wikiup Junction site. Work includes standard penetration testing (SPT) and obtaining 3-inch undisturbed Shelby tube samples with a piston sampler within diatomaceous soil layers. The contractor must furnish all necessary equipment, materials, and labor, including a truck-mounted drill rig, drill fluids, and water delivery systems. All used drill fluids and cuttings must be collected and disposed of by the contractor. The contractor must also complete and submit geotechnical hole reports to the Oregon Water Resources Department. The work is subject to a no-work period from November 18, 2026, through March 15, 2027, due to winter weather, and must be completed by November 17, 2027.
