Due to the unique technical tools, germplasm‑validated markers, and integrated sequencing‑to‑analysis processes required, the Government has determined that this requirement can only be met by MOLBREEDING BIOTECHNOLOGY LLC within the 180‑day performance period. Capability statements from other vendors will be reviewed solely to assess whether competitive procurement is feasible. The decision to compete the requirement rests solely with the contracting officer, and no reimbursement will be provided for the submission of capability information.
The contractor shall genotype tropical-derived GEM corn lines for the USDA using targeted sequencing with probe-in-solution enrichment. The contractor must perform kernel chipping, DNA extraction, library preparation, sequencing, quality control, and full bioinformatics analysis. Work requires use of validated SNP marker panels covering ~45,000 SNPs (and a subset 10,000 SNP panel), with markers evenly distributed across all corn chromosomes. All data generated will be owned by USDA. USDA will furnish corn seed by December 31, 2026, and all work must be completed within 180 days.
