TABC conditions brewer and manufacturer applications — including the manufacturer's license (BA) — on a $30,000 fee interest bond where the applicant does not own a fee interest (ownership) in a brewery facility, the arrangement used for contract brewing and alternating proprietorships. The bond stands behind the permittee's conformance with the Alcoholic Beverage Code and Commission rules.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of Texas through the Commission (the obligee). The bond's condition is that you conform with the Alcoholic Beverage Code and the Commission's rules; if the permit or license is revoked, the amount of the bond is paid to the state.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The $30,000 amount is the same across the brewer's permit (B), manufacturer's license (BA), and non-resident manufacturer's license (BS).
