What the bond actually guarantees
When a load is too heavy or too large to move legally on Brazos County roads, the County can issue a superheavy or oversize permit for the trip. The $15,000 bond is a road-and-bridge damage guarantee: it stands behind the actual damage your overweight or oversize vehicle causes to County roads, bridges, or culverts.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier standing behind you, and Brazos County (the obligee). If your hauling damages a County road or bridge beyond its load limitation, the County can recover its repair costs against the bond.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays the County, you repay the surety. Haulers who route carefully and stay within their permit terms treat the bond as a permit formality, not a risk.
