The bond is a highway-damage guarantee — it stands behind your obligation to repair any damage your move causes to roadways, bridges, or structures.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of New York / NYSDOT (the obligee). If an oversize or overweight move damages a highway or structure and you don't repair it, the state can recover its costs against the bond.
