About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the hauling bond actually covers

The New York State Department of Transportation issues special permits to move oversize or overweight equipment over state highways, and can condition the permit on a surety bond. The bond is a highway-damage guarantee — it stands behind your obligation to repair any damage your move causes to roadways, bridges, or structures.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of New York / NYSDOT (the obligee). If an oversize or overweight move damages a highway or structure and you don't repair it, the state can recover its costs against the bond.

We issue the amount NYSDOT set, at a flat 3% with no credit check. It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety.
