About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

A dry-cleaner / laundromat license bond is a consumer-protection guarantee. Nassau County licenses these shops through its Office of Consumer Affairs — the bond gives customers and the County a financial backstop for property a shop loses or damages and for compliance with the County's licensing rules.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and Nassau County (the obligee), with your customers as the protected parties. If a shop damages or loses customer goods or violates County consumer law, a harmed customer can recover against the bond.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Shops that handle customer property carefully treat the bond as a license formality.

Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs — dry cleaner / laundromat licenseNassau County requires this $10,000 bond as a condition of its dry cleaner and laundromat license, administered by the County's Office of Consumer Affairs. We did not locate a published code section for the bond amount, so the $10,000 figure is taken from the bond form itself — confirm on your County license paperwork.
