About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

A boxing & MMA promoter bond is a faithful-performance guarantee. New York licenses professional combative sport promoters through the State Athletic Commission, and the state wants a financial backstop that you'll run sanctioned events in line with the law and the Commission's rules.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of New York (the obligee). If a promoter fails to perform the obligations the Athletic Commission requires, a harmed party can recover against the bond up to the $10,000 penal sum.

This is the $10,000 faithful-performance bond. New York's combative sport rules also reference a separate $20,000 bond tied to event obligations like purses and related expenses — a different filing. This page covers the $10,000 bond; if your license calls for both, the same five-minute process applies to each.

NY licensing requirementProfessional combative sports are governed by Article 41 of the NY General Business Law, administered by the State Athletic Commission as a division of the Department of State. Promoters file the required bond with the Commission as a condition of licensure.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

Why is the price exactly $300? +
Honest answer: 3% of a $10,000 bond is $300, and that's above the $275 minimum premium on small bonds — so you just pay the flat 3%, no markup. We show the math because a clean number is easier to trust than a "quote."
Do I pay the $10,000? +
No. You pay $300. The $10,000 is the surety's maximum liability if a valid claim is made against the bond — not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
How fast will I have the bond? +
License bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase — many promoters finish the application and have the bond in the same sitting. At most, 1–2 business days.
Is there a credit check? +
Not on this bond — the application has no credit section at all. Small fixed-amount license bonds like this issue without one.
Is there also a $20,000 bond? +
There can be. New York's combative sport rules reference a separate $20,000 bond tied to event obligations like purses and related expenses, in addition to this $10,000 faithful-performance bond. They're separate filings — check what your specific license requires, and we can issue either through the same quick process.
