About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the manufacturer bond actually guarantees

Nevada requires a license to act as a vehicle manufacturer, distributor or rebuilder under NRS 482.322, and conditions that license on a surety bond under NRS 482.345. The bond is a consumer-and-public-protection guarantee standing behind your compliance with Nevada’s vehicle licensing and sales laws.

It’s a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of Nevada together with anyone injured by your conduct as a licensee (the protected parties). If you violate the chapter and someone is harmed, they can apply against the bond — and if the surety pays, you repay the surety.

The bond amount is set by the Department on your license requirement, not by us. We confirm the figure on your DMV notice and issue exactly that amount at a flat 3% with no credit check.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

How much is the Nevada manufacturer bond? +
The premium is a flat 3% of the bond amount, with a $275 minimum. The amount itself is set by the Nevada DMV on your license requirement — manufacturer and distributor bonds are commonly written at $50,000. Enter the figure on your notice and the quote updates.
Do I pay the bond amount? +
No. You pay the 3% premium. The bond amount is the surety's maximum liability to the state and anyone harmed — it is not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
Is there a credit check? +
Not on this bond — the application has no credit section. Larger bond amounts may get a quick soft-pull review, which never affects your credit score.
Which statute requires it? +
Nevada licenses manufacturers, distributors and rebuilders under NRS 482.322, with surety-bond requirements under NRS 482.345. The Department sets the amount and conditions.
Can my bond amount be reduced? +
The DMV may allow a reduced amount for licensees who have been in good standing for several years, but not below the statutory floor. We re-issue at whatever amount the Department approves.
