Minnesota requires contractors who install building sewer and water service lines to file a $25,000 code-compliance bond with the Department of Labor and Industry. Ours is $750 flat — 3% of the bond amount, identical for everyone. One soft credit pull, e-signed in 1–2 business days.

Your DLI registration is waiting on this bond. Here is the entire process — no broker phone tag:
Business details, owner information, effective date. That is the application — the only extra step is a one-time consent to a soft credit pull.
Most of these clear quickly; if underwriting needs anything, you hear from an underwriter within 48 hours. The credit check is a soft pull that never affects your score.
Pay online and receive the executed bond ready to file with your Department of Labor and Industry registration. Wet-ink originals mailed whenever the DLI insists.
$25,000 bond × 3% = $750, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
Minnesota's Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) registers contractors who perform building sewer and water service installation — "pipe laying" — and conditions registration on a code-compliance surety bond under Minn. Stat. 326B.46. The bond runs to the state in the penal sum of at least $25,000.
The bond is conditioned on faithful and lawful performance of the work in compliance with the plumbing and construction codes. If a registered contractor installs sewer or water service in violation of the code and the state or a harmed party suffers loss, they can recover against the bond.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The pipe-laying registration covers building sewer and water service work; contractors doing broader plumbing work hold a full plumbing contractor bond instead. This $25,000 bond is the standard amount for the registration.
These are the actual underwriting fields, including a one-time consent to a soft credit pull. Submit once and your bond is typically issued within 1–2 business days.
