MN Anytime Fitness health club bonds.
$250 flat.

A Minnesota health club that takes membership prepayments — including an Anytime Fitness franchise location — has to keep a surety bond on file with the Attorney General under Minn. Stat. § 325G.27, so a member who loses a prepaid fee if the club closes has somewhere to collect. This form is built for the $25,000 amount Anytime Fitness franchisees file — ours is $250 flat, and the price you see is the checkout price.

About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

Minnesota regulates health, dating, and buying clubs under Minn. Stat. §§ 325G.23–325G.28. A club that registers with the Attorney General and accepts membership prepayments has to back those prepayments with security — a surety bond, an irrevocable letter of credit, or a cash deposit — sized to what the club could owe its members if it closed.

Under Minn. Stat. § 325G.27, subd. 2, every bonded club maintains a bond issued by a surety company admitted to do business in Minnesota "in an amount not less than the aggregate value of outstanding liabilities to members," and no club is required to post more than $200,000 regardless of how many locations it runs. This filing is built for the $25,000 amount used for a Minnesota Anytime Fitness franchise location — the figure Anytime Fitness and its franchisees have set for this registration.

A copy of the bond goes to the Attorney General with the club’s registration. It is not insurance for you — if a member files a valid claim and the surety pays it, you repay the surety. Registration renews annually, so we track your filing and notify you before it lapses.

Minn. Stat. § 325G.27Minn. Stat. § 325G.27, subd. 2 requires every registered club to maintain a surety bond, issued by a surety company admitted to do business in Minnesota, "in an amount not less than the aggregate value of outstanding liabilities to members," with a $200,000 ceiling regardless of the number of facilities, and requires a copy of the bond to be filed with the attorney general. Registration and renewal are handled by the Minnesota Attorney General; a club that neither requires nor, in the ordinary course, receives member prepayment can instead file a declaration of exemption with the attorney general in place of the bond.
