What the bond actually guarantees
A fence contractor bond is a compliance-and-consumer-protection guarantee. The City of Baton Rouge wants a financial backstop that you'll perform fence work in line with the City-Parish code and the terms of your registration.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the City of Baton Rouge (the obligee), with the public as the protected party. If a registered fence contractor violates the City-Parish code or causes harm covered by the bond, a claimant can recover against it.
