Iowa requires every mobile/manufactured home retailer to file a $50,000 surety bond for its license. Ours is $500 flat — the price you see is the checkout price, identical for every retailer. A quick soft credit check may apply, e-signed in 1–2 business days.

Your retailer license is waiting on this bond. Here's the entire process — no broker phone tag:
Business details, owner information, effective date. That is the application — the only extra step is a one-time consent to a soft credit pull.
Most of these clear quickly; if underwriting needs anything, you hear from an underwriter within 48 hours. The credit check is a soft pull that never affects your score.
Pay online and receive the executed $50,000 bond. The original must be filed with the licensing bureau, and the bond gives the state 30 days’ notice before any cancellation. Wet-ink originals mailed on request.
Iowa licenses mobile and manufactured home retailers, and conditions the license on a $50,000 surety bond filed with the state. The bond is a consumer-protection guarantee: it stands behind your compliance with Iowa Code chapter 103A and the manufactured-housing rules, so a buyer harmed by a retailer’s violation has somewhere to recover.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of Iowa together with harmed buyers (the protected parties). The bond must give the licensing bureau 30 days’ notice before cancellation — if it lapses, the bureau can revoke the license on the same date the bond is canceled unless a new bond is filed.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Retailers who follow the law treat the bond as a license formality, and we track it and notify you 60 and 30 days out so your filing stays continuous.
These are the actual underwriting fields, including a one-time consent to a soft credit pull. Submit once and your bond is typically issued within 1–2 business days.
