The Town of Normal's Town Council ordinance on tree trimming requires anyone who trims or cuts trees for hire in Normal to hold a Town Clerk license backed by a $5,000 surety bond and proof of liability insurance. Ours is $100 flat — the price you see is the checkout price. The bond issues the moment you pay — a soft credit pull at most, never a hard inquiry.

A Normal tree trimmer bond is about the simplest filing in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. That's the application — no financials, no credit section.
Registration bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond and power of attorney arrive by email, ready to file with your Tree Trimmer Application at Uptown Station alongside proof of your liability (and, if applicable, workers' compensation) insurance. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
The Town of Normal's Town Council approved a licensing ordinance for tree trimmers and cutters on March 18, 2013, requiring anyone who trims or cuts trees for hire in Normal to hold a license from the Town Clerk backed by a $5,000 surety bond, proof of liability insurance, and — for companies the law requires it of — proof of workers' compensation coverage. A landscaping company that doesn't itself trim or cut trees falls outside the ordinance.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Town of Normal (the obligee), with residents and the Town's own tree-debris rules as the protected interests — the ordinance also bars licensed trimmers from leaving debris curbside for the Town to collect.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The license and its $25 fee renew yearly at the Town Clerk's Office; keep your bond current alongside that renewal.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit section, because this application doesn't collect credit information.
