GA match event permit bonds.
$750 flat. Soft pull.

Before issuing a match permit for a professional boxing, kickboxing, or MMA event, the Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission can require a performance bond in addition to the promoter’s license bond under O.C.G.A. 43-4B-10 — commonly $25,000. Ours is $750 flat, 3% of the bond amount, with one soft credit pull.

About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

Georgia regulates professional boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts through the Athletic & Entertainment Commission. Under O.C.G.A. 43-4B-10, no one may promote a professional match without both a promoter’s license and a match permit, and the Commission may require a performance bond before issuing the permit — commonly $25,000 per event.

The match permit bond is a performance guarantee for that specific event: it backs the promoter’s obligations — paying the fighters and officials, covering required purses and fees, and complying with the Commission’s rules — so participants and the state aren’t left short if the event falls through.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim because purses or fees went unpaid, you repay the surety. Submit the application in the individual promoter’s name, as the Commission requires.

O.C.G.A. 43-4B-10O.C.G.A. 43-4B-10 requires a promoter to obtain a match permit from the Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission for each professional boxing, kickboxing, or MMA event, and authorizes the Commission to require a performance bond before issuing the permit — a $25,000 amount is common. The exact amount and conditions are set by the Commission; confirm yours on your permit paperwork.

You need this bond if you’re

A licensed promoter applying for a permit for a specific match or card
Holding a professional boxing event that the Commission conditions on a performance bond
Promoting MMA or kickboxing under a match permit from the Commission
Adding an event beyond the one your promoter’s license bond already covers

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

Do I pay the $25,000? +
No. You pay $750 — the flat 3% of the bond amount. The $25,000 is the surety’s maximum liability if purses or fees go unpaid; it’s not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
Who requires this bond? +
The Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission, as a condition of a match permit under O.C.G.A. 43-4B-10. The Commission may require a performance bond before issuing the permit, in addition to the promoter’s license bond.
Whose name goes on the application? +
The individual promoter’s name — the Commission requires the match permit and its bond in the individual promoter’s name, even if you operate through a company.
Is there a credit check? +
Yes — one soft credit pull, which never affects your score. It informs approval, not price. The rate is a flat 3% either way: credit can affect whether we approve the bond, never what it costs.
Is the amount always $25,000? +
The Commission sets the amount per permit, and $25,000 is common, but it can require a different figure. Send us your permit paperwork and we’ll issue the exact amount the Commission names.
