What the promoter’s bond covers

Georgia regulates professional boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts through the Athletic & Entertainment Commission. Under O.C.G.A. 43-4B-10, no one may promote a professional match without a promoter’s license, and the application must be accompanied by a performance bond in an amount and under conditions the Commission requires.

Unlike a single match permit bond, the promoter’s bond backs your ongoing obligations as a licensed promoter — paying fighters and officials, meeting required purses and fees, and complying with the Commission’s rules across the events you hold. The license expires annually on December 31.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Because the Commission sets the amount, enter whatever figure your license paperwork names; we issue it at a flat 3% with no credit check. Submit the application in the individual promoter’s name.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

How much is the Georgia promoter’s bond? +
The premium is a flat 3% of the bond amount, with a $275 minimum. The amount itself is set by the Athletic & Entertainment Commission — there is no single statutory figure — so you enter whatever your license paperwork names and the quote updates.
How is this different from the match permit bond? +
The promoter’s bond backs your ongoing license obligations; the match permit bond (commonly $25,000) backs a specific event. Under O.C.G.A. 43-4B-10 the Commission can require both — the license bond plus a per-permit performance bond.
Whose name goes on the application? +
The individual promoter’s name — the Commission requires the license and its bond in the individual promoter’s name, even if you operate through a company.
Is there a credit check? +
No — the promoter’s bond is issued with no credit pull. Larger bond amounts may get a quick soft-pull review, which never affects your credit score.
When does it renew? +
A promoter’s license expires annually on December 31, so the bond must stay active through your license term. We send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out.
