The Town of Ridgefield does not let paving, resurfacing, or significant road maintenance work start on a town road until the applicant obtains a roadway construction permit from the Director of Public Services / Highway Department — and the permit will not issue until the applicant has met the Town’s bond and surety requirements. The bond stands behind the paving quality, road base, and any restoration work the permit requires.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier standing behind you, and the Town of Ridgefield (the obligee). If the paving or road maintenance is left incomplete or not built to town specifications, Ridgefield can recover against the bond to finish or repair the work.
