About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

Arkansas requires residential roofing contractors to register with the Contractors Licensing Board and file a $15,000 surety bond. The bond is a compliance-and-consumer-protection guarantee — it stands behind your residential roofing work and your fair dealing with homeowners.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Contractors Licensing Board together with the homeowners you serve. Under A.C.A. 17-25-604, the bond is conditioned on your compliance with the Residential Contractor Licensing Law — roofing, roof-deck, and sheet-metal roofing work done to standard and contracts performed.

It is not insurance for you. A homeowner harmed by a roofer's failure to comply can recover against the bond — and if the surety pays, you repay the surety. The bond must stay active for your registration to stay valid; we track it and notify you 60 and 30 days out.

A.C.A. 17-25-604Arkansas Code Annotated 17-25-604, under the Residential Contractor Licensing Law, requires a residential roofing registrant to file a $15,000 surety bond with the Contractors Licensing Board, conditioned on compliance with the law. Confirm the current bond form on your CLB residential roofing registration application.

You need this bond if you're

Registering as an AR residential roofer — the bond is filed with your registration
Renewing your roofing registration and your bond is expiring or your surety non-renewed
A roofing company entering Arkansas from another state
Doing roof-deck or sheet-metal roofing that falls under the residential roofing registration

Five minutes. The whole thing.

These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn't have one.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

How much is the Arkansas residential roofing bond? +
The premium is $450 — a flat 3% of the fixed $15,000 bond amount, the same for every roofer. The $15,000 is set by statute, so there is no quote process.
Do I pay the $15,000? +
No. You pay $450. The $15,000 is the surety's maximum liability if a valid claim is made against the bond — it's not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
How fast will I have the bond? +
Small registration bonds like this issue quickly — many roofers finish the application and have the bond in the same sitting. At most, 1–2 business days.
Is there a credit check? +
Not on this bond — the application has no credit section at all. Small fixed-amount registration bonds like this one don't need one.
When does it renew? +
The bond must stay active for as long as your registration is active. You can buy a 1, 2, or 3-year term; we send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out, with autopay available.
