Alaska requires a licensed collection agency to file a $5,000 surety bond under AS 08.24.150 — executed by the agency as principal and a licensed surety, filed with the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing as a condition of holding the license. Ours is $100 flat, the price you see is the checkout price, and the bond issues the moment you pay. Any credit screen is a soft pull only — it never affects your score.

Collection agency license bonds are among the simplest filings in surety. Here's the entire process:
Business details, an effective date, and a term. That is the entire application — no financials, and any credit screen is a soft pull that never shows as a hard inquiry.
This bond is checkout-priced at $100 flat, so it issues the moment you pay — your executed bond and power of attorney generate on the spot.
Your executed bond arrives by email, ready to file with your collection agency license at the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
Alaska licenses collection agencies through the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing (Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development) under AS 08.24. The chapter requires a $5,000 bond under AS 08.24.150, executed by the applicant as principal and by a surety authorized to write fidelity and surety insurance in Alaska.
It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the state (the obligee). The bond stands behind your compliance with AS 08.24 — including your duty to remit what you collect to the creditors who hired you. The statute also lets an agency deposit $5,000 cash in lieu of the bond, but the bond keeps that capital free.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The bond remains in effect until cancelled by the surety, the principal, or the department, and no action may be brought on it more than two years after cancellation; we track the term and send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out.
These are the actual issuing fields — business details, an effective date, and a term. That is the entire application.
