The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting bids for the replacement of bridge 600101
Over Big Crabtree Creek on SR-1002 (Crabtree Rd) in Mitchell County to be let at 2:00 PM on
Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
The availability date for this project is December 28, 2026.
The completion date for this project is April 13, 2029.
Bids for this project must be submitted electronically. Refer to the Instructions to Bidders in the
proposal for more information.
Firms that wish to perform work on Division Purchase Order Contracts as either the prime contractor or
as a subcontractor on the project must be prequalified for the type work they wish to perform. Firms that
wish to bid on these projects as the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to submitting your bid.
Firms that wish to perform as a subcontractor to the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to
beginning work on the project.
Any firm that wishes to bid as a prime contractor shall be prequalified as a Bidder or PO Prime

The project constructs Contract DM00528 in Mitchell and Yancey Counties for replacement of Bridge 600101 over Big Crabtree Creek on SR-1002, with grading, drainage, paving and structures work including soldier pile retaining walls, prestressed concrete box beams, guardrail, drilled piers, erosion control and reforestation over 0.273 miles.
