Metropolitan provides an on-site cafeteria and food services for its employees, board members, building tenants, and the general public at its Union Station Headquarters facility located at 700 N. Alameda St. Los Angeles, CA 90012. Metropolitan is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Contractor (Respondent) to provide continued cafeteria food management services for its Union Station facility. The cafeteria is 10,350 square feet, is located on the first floor of the building and includes an outdoor patio area with limited seating. Dining services include providing catering services, upon request, for Metropolitan employees, board members, tenants, and guests for special events during and after hours of operation.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements Metropolitan prefers a prime contractor for services and not subcontract services out. However, if services are subcontracted out, respondent must meet the following minimum requirements in order to submit a proposal. Respondent’s Proposal will be deemed non-responsive to the extent that it does not meet the minimum requirements. 1. Respondents shall be an established food service purveyor either as a corporate dining service, in the restaurant or hotel or institution food industry. Contractor shall have worked and have “hands-on” experience in the area of food management services for the past five (5) years. (see scope of services for detailed description). 2. Respondents Food Services Manager and Chief shall have a minimum of five (5) years actual and recent experience and have graduated from an accredited college or vocational training institution in food preparation and management. Metropolitan reserves the right to interview the service manager and chef to ensure that these individuals meet the background and educational requirements and expertise required by Metropolitan and may request verification of required education and training; e.g., diploma or certification. Metropolitan shall have final approval of Contractor’s Food Services Manager. 3. Respondent’s food service employees shall have a minimum of three years’ experience in providing the services described herein and shall have been in Respondent’s employment within the past two (2) years. 4. Respondent’s cafeteria service employees must be able to speak and understand the English language and be legally authorized to work in the United States of America. Service employees may be subject to background checks for security reasons at the expense of the Contractor. 5. Respondent must demonstrate a zero food-borne illness record for the past three (3) years.
