The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide personnel, equipment, storage, transportation, and administrative services necessary to receive, store, and deliver USDA food items to recipient agencies as identified by the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF), in accordance with 7 CFR Part 250.12. for their Soup Kitchen Food Bank program. The Soup Kitchen Food Bank (SKFB) provides USDA foods for congregate meals serving individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity at an average of approximately 75 soup kitchen sites throughout Kansas. USDA food is available for monthly shipment through the contracted vendor.
The Contractor must furnish personnel, equipment, storage, transportation, and administrative services necessary to receive, store, and deliver USDA food items to recipient agencies throughout Kansas in accordance with 7 CFR Part 250.12. Duties include accepting and unloading shipments at adequately docked warehouse facilities, maintaining cooler, dry, and freezer storage, coordinating and carrying out delivery to roughly 75 soup kitchen sites via an automated ordering system approved by DCF, preparing warehouse shipment receipts and delivery receipts, conducting monthly physical inventories, reporting damaged or discrepant shipments, and maintaining accounting and record-keeping for five years. The Contractor is paid a fixed unit price per unit delivered, with warehousing and shipping charges paid by SKFB sites directly to the contractor.
