The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a qualified contractor to conduct a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) assessment of approximately 302 miles of City-maintained roadways, as outlined in
the Scope of Services below. The City has conducted six roadway condition evaluations since its inception, with the most recent evaluation completed in 2023.
The consultant shall conduct a physical field evaluation of 302 centerline miles of City-maintained roadways, including both directions of travel, using a 0-100 PCI scoring system consistent with ASTM D6433. The evaluation shall include alligator cracking, block cracking, corrugation, depression, edge cracking, longitudinal or transverse cracking, patching, potholes, rutting, shoving, swelling, general weathering, and raveling. Recommendations shall be made for segments suitable for simple resurfacing or full reclamation, compiled into four budget recommendations. The consultant shall compare current PCI results with the City's 2023 evaluation. The field evaluation shall include guardrail inspection and classification, a pavement marking assessment documenting type, location, and condition, a traffic sign inventory and assessment, and evaluation of all City-owned traffic calming devices. Pictures of selected significant roadway segments, guardrail areas, pavement markings, and street signs shall be included. The consultant shall provide two presentations: one to senior City management and one during a City Council meeting.
