This requirement is for Mechanical Site Preparation using a double drum chopper on the Ocala National Forest. Equipment must meet specified weight, speed, and blade requirements, and the Government may require replacement of unsatisfactory equipment. Treatment includes chopping vegetation up to 6 inches in diameter, leaving designated snags, and incorporating “sloppy chop” exclusion zones. Roads within treatment areas not shown on maps must also be chopped.

Contractors must chop vegetation up to 6 inches in diameter, leave designated snags over 11 inches, incorporate 'sloppy chop' exclusion zones covering 3-5% of the area, and chop roads within treatment areas not shown on maps. Equipment must meet specified weight, speed, and blade requirements, including a Marden B-7 or equivalent double drum offset chopper with a gross weight of at least 24,000 lbs. The double chop areas must be chopped a second time at least three weeks after the first chop. Work order requires starting with Double Chop Area 10-1, then progressing south through recent sale areas.
