Brooklyn Upgrade Life Safety/Critical Branch Electrical Distribution Construction

The contractor shall completely prepare the site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials to perform work for the Upgrade Life Safety/Critical Branch Electrical Distribution. The project tasks are broken into three categories: the first category (Task Nos. 1, 2, and 3) is to install a dedicated life safety branch in the VA Brooklyn campus's Building 1, including automatic transfer switches (ATS) and electrical distribution equipment on each floor with loads dedicated to the life safety branch for compliance with NFPA 70, NFPA 99, and NFPA 110, and VA electrical design requirements for a healthcare facility essential electrical system. The second category (Task No. 5) addresses electrical distribution equipment that requires upgrade and/or replacement to exceed the expected three-phase asymmetrical fault current as determined by a previous Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) electrical study. The third category (Task Nos. 6 through 26) addresses equipment code violations that were determined during a previous SEL electrical study. The work is to be performed at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center, 800 Poly Place, Brooklyn, NY 11209, and includes work in Buildings 1, 2, 4, 14, and 15.
