The City of Cibolo registers building contractors before they pull permits and conditions that registration on a $25,000 surety bond. The bond is a code-compliance and public-protection guarantee: it stands behind your work meeting the city building code and the terms of the permits you pull.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the City of Cibolo (the obligee). If a contractor violates the building code or city ordinances and the city or a harmed party suffers a loss, they can recover against the bond.
