What the bond actually guarantees
Oklahoma licenses wholesale used motor vehicle dealers — dealers who sell only to other licensed dealers, not the public — through the Used Motor Vehicle, Dismantler, and Manufactured Housing Commission (OUMVDMHC), and conditions the license on a $25,000 surety bond under 47 O.S. §583.
The bond is a protection guarantee standing behind clear title on the vehicles you move and your compliance with Oklahoma's motor vehicle sales laws. It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety, and the Commission together with anyone harmed by a violation.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The bond is approved as to form by the Attorney General and runs on the Commission's odd-year expiration cycle. Dealers who deliver clean title and keep good records treat it as a license formality.
