About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

A Health District plumbing bond is a code-compliance guarantee. The Sidney-Shelby County General Health District wants a financial backstop that your plumbing installations, repairs, and backflow work meet the Ohio plumbing code and district rules.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Sidney-Shelby County General Health District (the obligee). If you perform plumbing work that violates code and leave it uncorrected, the district can recover against the bond.

The bond must stay active for the life of your registration. We track the term and notify you 60 and 30 days out so your registration never lapses over a missed renewal.

Sidney-Shelby County Board of Health — Plumbing RegulationsThe Sidney-Shelby County Health Department requires contractors who perform plumbing installations, repairs, maintenance, and backflow testing in the county to register with the Health Department and file a plumbing contractor bond (commonly $10,000) with that registration, under the Sidney-Shelby County Board of Health plumbing regulations. The bond amount and form are set by the district. (We do not cite a specific section number we cannot verify.)
