The City of Rochester requires a $10,000 contractor bond for work on sidewalks, driveways, and curbs in the public right-of-way, filed with the Public Works Department. Ours is $300 flat — 3% of the bond amount — with no credit check.

Right-of-way contractor bonds are simple. Here is the entire process:
Business details and an effective date. No financials, no credit check section, no follow-up scavenger hunt.
Small fixed-amount permit bonds like this issue fast — often right after purchase. At most, 1–2 business days.
Your executed bond arrives by email, ready to file with the Rochester Public Works Department for your sidewalk/driveway/curb contractor license. Wet-ink original mailed on request.
$10,000 bond × 3% = $300, one-time per term. Fixed amount, fixed price, multi-year if you want it.
The City of Rochester licenses contractors who build and repair sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and gutters in the public right-of-way through its Public Works Department. The license is conditioned on a $10,000 contractor bond that must be on file before any permits are issued.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the City of Rochester (the obligee). The bond backs your obligation to build to city standards, restore the right-of-way, and follow the permit conditions — and the city can recover its costs against the bond if you fall short.
It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays the city, you repay the surety. The annual license expires December 31; we issue the city’s required $10,000 amount at a flat 3% with no credit check.
These are the actual issuing fields — no credit check section, because this bond doesn’t have one.
