About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the waste tire bond actually covers

Louisiana regulates waste tires through the Department of Environmental Quality under the solid-waste rules in LAC Title 33, Part VII. Anyone who transports more than twenty waste tires within the state must notify DEQ and operate as a permitted transporter — and post a surety bond as a financial guarantee.

The bond runs in favor of DEQ and is a minimum of $10,000, on the language the regulations prescribe (LAC 33:VII, Appendix B). It backs the transporter's compliance with the standards in Section 10523 — proper manifesting, delivery only to authorized destinations, and the rest of the waste tire program.

If a transporter mishandles waste tires or otherwise violates the program and the state incurs a loss, it can recover against the bond — and if the surety pays, you repay the surety. We issue the amount DEQ requires, at a flat 3% with no credit check.

LAC 33:VII (Waste Tire Transporters)Louisiana's waste tire regulations in LAC Title 33, Part VII require a waste tire transporter (more than 20 tires) to notify DEQ and post a financial-guarantee surety bond of at least $10,000 on the prescribed language (Appendix B), backing compliance with the transporter standards in Section 10523. Confirm the required amount and current form on your DEQ notification packet.
