About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

An itinerant vendor bond is a consumer-protection guarantee. St. Tammany Parish wants a financial backstop that traveling and temporary merchants will deal honestly with local customers and follow the Parish vendor ordinance — because once an itinerant vendor moves on, a wronged buyer has little else to fall back on.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and St. Tammany Parish (the obligee), with parish customers as the protected parties. If a vendor takes money and fails to deliver, or violates the vendor ordinance, a harmed customer can recover against the bond.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. We track your filing and notify you 60 and 30 days before expiration so your permit never lapses over a missed renewal.

St. Tammany ParishSt. Tammany Parish requires this $5,000 itinerant vendor bond as a condition of an itinerant / transient vendor permit in the Parish. The bond amount and terms are set by the Parish under its peddler / itinerant vendor ordinance; confirm the current requirement with the St. Tammany Parish permits / occupational licensing office before you file.

FAQs

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, the bond team can usually answer within the hour.

How much is the St. Tammany itinerant vendor bond? +
The premium is $275 — the flat-3% minimum on a $5,000 bond (3% of $5,000 is $150, below our floor, so it is $275). Same for every vendor. The $5,000 amount is set by the Parish, so there is no quote process.
Do I pay the $5,000? +
No. You pay $275. The $5,000 is the surety's maximum liability if a valid claim is made against the bond — not a deposit, and nobody holds your money.
How fast will I have the bond? +
License bonds like this are among the thousands of bond types that issue right after purchase — many vendors finish the application and have the bond in the same sitting. At most, 1–2 business days.
Is there a credit check? +
Not on this bond — the application has no credit section at all. Small fixed-amount license bonds like this one don't need one.
When does it renew? +
The bond must stay active for as long as you hold the permit. You can buy a 1, 2, or 3-year term; we send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out, with autopay available, so your permit never lapses over a missed email.
