What the Tiffin peddler bond guarantees
A peddler/solicitor bond is a consumer-protection guarantee to the City of Tiffin and its residents. It backs your promise to peddle or solicit honestly — to deliver what residents pay for and to follow the City peddler/solicitor ordinance.
It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the City of Tiffin (the obligee), with residents as the protected parties. If a peddler takes a deposit and fails to deliver, or otherwise violates the ordinance, a harmed resident can recover against the bond up to $1,000.
The bond must stay active while your peddler/solicitor permit is current. Let it lapse and the City can pull the permit — so we track it and send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out.
