What the septic contractor bond guarantees

Monroe County, Georgia requires contractors who install or repair on-site sewage management systems (septic systems) to be registered, and conditions that registration on a $10,000 surety bond. The bond is a guarantee that you will install systems to the county's environmental-health and permit standards.

It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and Monroe County (the obligee). If you install a failing or non-compliant system and a property owner or the county is harmed, they can recover against the bond.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. Installers who follow the county code and pass their inspections treat the bond as a registration formality. We hold the $10,000 filing continuous and notify you 60 and 30 days before renewal.

Monroe County Environmental HealthMonroe County, Georgia requires a $10,000 surety bond as a condition of registering as a septic tank / on-site sewage system contractor, administered through the county's permitting and environmental-health functions. The $10,000 amount is fixed by the county — we issue the bond on it.
