GA check casher bonds.
From $100. Enter your amount.

Georgia licenses check cashers — businesses cashing checks or other payment instruments for a fee — through the Department of Banking and Finance under O.C.G.A. §§ 7-1-700 et seq., filed through NMLS. The license requires a surety bond sized to your locations: $10,000 per location for up to three locations, with smaller add-ons beyond that. The premium is 1% of the bond amount, $100 minimum — a single-location bond is $100. Any credit screen is a soft pull only — it never affects your score.

About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the bond actually guarantees

Georgia regulates check cashing under Article 4A of its Financial Institutions Code (O.C.G.A. §§ 7-1-700 through 7-1-709.2) — any business cashing checks or other payment instruments for a fee needs a license from the Department of Banking and Finance unless a narrow exemption applies. The license carries a surety bond sized to your footprint: $10,000 per location for up to three locations, $5,000 each for the fourth and fifth, and $1,000 for each location beyond the fifth.

It's a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the State of Georgia (the obligee). The bond stands behind your compliance with the licensing article — the endorsement, payment, identification, and fee-cap rules that protect the consumers whose checks you cash.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The bond is continuous, tracked through NMLS, and cancellation takes effect only after notice to the Department — so keep it in force as long as you hold the license. We track the term and send renewal notices 60 and 30 days out.

O.C.G.A. §§ 7-1-700 et seq.Georgia's check cashing article (O.C.G.A. §§ 7-1-700 through 7-1-709.2) requires a license from the Department of Banking and Finance to cash payment instruments for a fee, administered through NMLS. The Department's required surety bond runs in the aggregate amount of $10,000 for each location if the licensee operates three or fewer, plus $5,000 per location for the fourth and fifth, plus $1,000 for each location beyond the fifth. Confirm your required amount on your NMLS license record.
