What the bond actually guarantees
This bond is a municipal-protection guarantee tied to two things at once: connecting to the Town of Westport sanitary sewer and opening the town road to do it. The Town wants a financial backstop that the sewer lateral is made correctly and the road is fully restored afterward.
It’s a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and the Town of Westport (the obligee). If you make a defective sewer connection, damage town property, or fail to restore the road opening to the town’s standard, the Town can recover against the bond.
