The work covers three major areas: production of U-10Mo alloy from Government-furnished HALEU and low-carbon arc-cast molybdenum by vacuum induction melting, sampling, homogenization and machining to ingot; fabrication of fuel foil by hot co-roll bonding with zirconium interlayer to master foil and cold rolling to final child foil with trimming and inspection; fabrication of fuel plate by HIP-can assembly, electron-beam welding, hot isostatic pressing, decanning, roller leveling, wet polishing and nondestructive examination; and fuel assembly by plate forming, swaging into side plates, end-fitting welding, final machining, boehmite coating and final inspection to support about 10,000 plates and 200 elements per year in a roughly 25,000 square foot facility with high-bay space and industrial utilities.
