The vehicle will be used for over-snow travel to remote SNOTEL and snow survey sites on the Kern River and Western Divide Ranger Districts from late January through early May, in cooperation with the California Department of Water Resources, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local water districts, and contractors, to collect snowpack data supporting snow and water forecasting products. The vehicle must include a factory- or dealer-installed enclosed winter cab, a 4,500 lb minimum capacity winch, underbody skid plate protection, factory-integrated GPS/navigation, and a rear camera. Delivery is to 11380 Kernville Road, Kernville, CA 93238.
