Higher education and not-for-profit research institutions in NYS are eligible to apply for matching funds to leverage resources from federal or private sources, including the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Health and other organizations.
To qualify for a Matching Funds Grant, the research institution is required to meet a minimum of 2:1 matching requirement of dollars coming to NYS. For every dollar an institution receives from the state, the institution must receive at least two dollars from sources outside the institution. Funds eligible for mathcing are those received by the institution from the granting entity and/or from private industries that will remain in New York State, institutions and other state funds are not eligivle to calculate the 2:1 matching grants.
